The origin of the Battalion dates to the formation of the Citizen Military Forces after the end of the Great War of 1914/18.

 

The Battalion’s Headquarters were at the Homebush Depot not far from St Anne’s Church at Strathfield. In those early days the Battalion held the King’s Colours of the Australian Rifle Regiment (ARR) which was soon after laid up in St Anne’s Church and carried on the Motto, Nomine Quartus, the Regimental March. Men of Harlech and the tradition of the 4th Battalion AIF.
